After a good performance in his debut WKA Comer Cadet race with J3 Competition, at their home track of BeaveRun in Wampum, PA, DRC then made the trip to Miller Motorsports Parks in Toole, UT for Michael's chance to vye for a great showing at the Rotax U.S. Grand Nationals.

This event is the biggest race in the US Rotax series, and Michael was well prepared and ready to complete under the close direction of J3 Competition. AM Engines would give our team a fighting chance with their fine tuned MicroMax.

After 3 days of practice, Michael was ready to qualify on Wednesday and finished with a solid performance in 12th place. This result would set him in the position for each of the 3 heat races.

Also on Wednesday, Michael first Heat would show his consistency but also showed he had work to do for a top ten finish. He gained a spot to finish 11th.

On Thursday, Michael continued his efforts and ultimately realized the field of Micros would not be easy. In heat #2 is finished 12th and in heat #3 he finished 9th. The calculated points system of his results would put him in the 8th position to start the pre-Final on saturday.

Saturday was the big day, and Michael struggled to maintain his position. Once again, he battled with a pack of 4 racers for the top ten, and he finished 11th.

With 7 out of the top 12 kids all from our home track of Oakland Valley Race Park, Michael & his team (tuner: Blake Wankowski and coach: Justin Stefani) were prepared for battle. At the green flag, Michael took a quick jump in the first two turns to move up to 6th place, and trail the 4 fastest kids of the entire race weekend. After two laps, the front 4 drivers had built a solid gap, and Michael quickly found himself in a pack of 4 kids battling for position. He held a very tight lead on his group for more than half of the 14 laps, and with 2 turns to go before the checkered flag, it would be a drag race to take the 6th & 7th spot. The finish was a nail biter and the team waited patiently for the official transponder timed results. We are extremely happy to announce Michael had a great performance to take a 7th place finish by a mere 1/100th of a second! Congratulations Michael! What a great job!

Once again, a sincere Thank You to our team members at J3 Competition and tuner Blake Wankowski, for a great week! And also to Ariel at AM Engines for you continued support!

DRC Inc will take a few weeks to prepare for both local & end of season races. Stay tuned for more action when we return to New Castle Motorsports Park, IN in back-to-back weekends in September, for the WKA Grand Nationals (Comer Cadet) and the Rotax Pan American Championships (MicroMax).

We are also pleased to see Nicholas return to track in his new J3 sponsored Kosmic kart. Keep checking our websites for further updates on his progress!
