"Five wins and six podiums at OVRP"

With no national racing on the calendar, it was back to regional level competition for d'Orlando Racing (DRC Inc.) pilots Michael and Nicholas d'Orlando as the duo would compete at their home facility of Oakland Valley Race Park (OVRP). Taking part in their first round of the 2012 New Jersey Sprint Series program, Michael and Nicholas d'Orlando both found their way to the top step of the podium on multiple occasions.

Competing under sun drenched skies, Nicholas would see action in the Yamaha Rookie Sportsman category that would compete on both event days. Taking the pole position, prefinal win and main event victory to sweep Saturday's wheel-to-wheel action, Nicholas did the same on Sunday to dominate the weekend.

"Nicholas performed flawlessly all weekend long," expressed DRC Inc.'s Sherri d'Orlando. "After a challenging start to the 2012 season, Nicholas has steadily increased, showing improvement in both driver feedback, qualifying runs and race craft and the results are based purely on these efforts."

Older brother Michael would have the same success as his younger brother, even after missing Friday's unofficial test day and the start of Saturday's racing action. After returning from a three-week sleep-away camp at the Summer Institute for the Gifted at Bryn Mawr College in the Philadelphia region, Michael traveled to the OVRP facility straight after Saturday morning's closing ceremonies.

Missing both the morning warm-up and qualifying session, Michael would enter both the Cadet Junior Sportsman and the combined Cadet and Yamaha, Raceway Park (RP) Junior Sportsman categories, and be forced to start from the tail of the field. Showing up just in time to enter the Cadet prefinal, Michael quickly sliced and diced his way through the field to take the checkered flag. Looking to repeat his success in the main event, Michael opened the Cadet main event with some fast and consistent race laps to draw away from his competitors. Pushing harder to increase the gap, Michael dropped a wheel on the exit of the corner falling back to the third position and losing significant ground in the process. Driving aggressively to close back in on the leaders, Michael made his move on the lead duo, eventually crossing the line in the second position. The RP Junior Sportsman category would provide a little better result for Michael as he went on to take the prefinal win and main event victory after starting from the tail of the field.

Dominating the day on Sunday, Michael showed his true speed as he topped the time charts in both the Cadet and RP Junior Sportsman qualifying sessions. Just has his younger brother did in the previous day, Michael went on to claim the prefinal and main event wins in the Cadet division to sweep the day's action in the class. Not done there, Michael's Junior Sportsman performance was equally as impressive as he took top honors in both the heat race and main event in that class as well.

D'Orlando continued, "Michael is really working and his results show it. From his runs at the WKA Manufacturer's Cup events to the regional racing, he is putting 110% into every lap and looking to get the best out of his equipment."

DRC Inc. would like to thank tuner Adam Johnson for his hard work and continuous efforts this past weekend. Working under his direction, DRC Inc. left the New Jersey Sprint Series with five wins and six podiums in a possible six classes.

DRC Inc. will enjoy a weekend off before two weeks of intense racing action begins. Traveling to Concept Haulers Motor Speedway in Sheridan, Illinois for round five of the World Karting Association Manufacturer's Cup over the August 3- 5 weekend, the team will quickly pack up and head east to the Jet Karting of Michiana Raceway Park facility near South Bend, Indiana August 6- 11 for the United States Rotax Grand Nationals.
