It’s the biggest national level competition of the year. National titles and spots on the US team are on the line. It’s time for the 2015 Cold Stone United States Rotax Max Challenge Grand Nationals.

Michael and Nicholas d’Orlando will be heading to Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, SC this week, looking to capture the Cold Stone US Rotax MAX Challenge Grand National Championship. This is the 16th annual USRMC Grand National Championship event and will crown the United States National Champions in all seven Rotax categories. In addition, this event will also award several tickets to the 2015 Rotax Grand Finals, to winners in each of the qualified classes, with a spot on Team USA in Portugal later this year.

Both d’Orlando brothers know there is a lot on the line and would love to add another Rotax Grand National Championship to their already stellar resumes and growing trophy case. Michael is looking to earn his second Grand National title while Nicholas is looking to better his podium results in previous years to the top step this year.

It was only a few weeks ago that Michael and Nicholas were in Kershaw for the Rotax Shootout, the ‘Unofficial Tune-up’ for the Grand Nationals, with Michael bringing home his No.251 KoeneUSA Tony/Kart to a top-5 finish in Junior MAX and Nicholas bringing home his No.151 KoeneUSA Tony/Kart victory in the Rotax Mini MAX class.

Nicholas will be looked at as one of the favorites in the Mini MAX division heading into this weekend. He knows he will be up against some of the best drivers in the country looking to capture that US National Champion title.

“This is a big weekend of racing for me” said Nicholas. “We had a great win at the Rotax Shootout just a few weeks ago here in Kershaw. We learned a lot of valuable information then. I am looking forward to this race with everything on the line and racing against the country’s best drivers. I will do all I can to bring home the Championship title in Mini MAX.”

Michael, who is only just over 6 months into his junior campaign, is already showing why he is a stand-out kart racer. He also knows exactly why the Junior division is considered to be one of the most competitive classes in karting. With the competition very fierce, loaded with experienced racers as old as 16 years, the 13-year-old continues to show case his talent with solid results. He is looking forward to be racing against the best Junior drivers in the country.

“I am looking forward to this weekend’s Junior MAX race,” said Michael. “I was here only a few weeks ago and ended the weekend strong with a fifth place finish. I learned a lot from that race, so now we have a good starting point and a lot of valuable data for our return here for the Grand Nationals. I am always pushing to get on that top step of the podium and doing it at the Rotax Grand Nationals would be even sweeter.”

The 2015 Cold Stone US Rotax Grand Nationals event will begin on Wednesday, August 5th for unofficial practice. Official event sessions will commence on Friday, August 7th through Sunday, August 9th including one qualifying session, a Super Pole session for the top 6 qualifiers in each class, three heat races, a pre-final and final race.
