Michael and Nicholas d’Orlando are back on the road again this weekend as they head to famous Las Vegas, NV for the final round of the Rotax US Open series at the Rio All-Suite Hotel. Michael will be competing in Junior Max and Nicholas in Mini Max class, as they face off against the best of the best from around the world with all eyes on championship cash prizes and the all-expense paid trip to the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals (RMCGF) as a member of the 2016 Team USA.

Both Michael and Nicholas will be looking to etch their names in the history books under the bright lights of Las Vegas as they look for big results in the inaugural US Open Final at the Rio! The recently unveiled temporary track configuration assembled just days ago in the Rio parking lot, is guaranteed to challenge all competitors and foster a competitive environment on an even playing field. When you add in the fact that the race is the final race of a three race series and the back drop of the Vegas Strip, the excitement factor is increased by ten fold.

The 2015 US Grand National Mini MAX Champion, Nicholas d’Orlando, is sitting second in the US Open Mini Max series points standings as he heads into this weekend’s race just 45 points behind points leader Jack Crawford and a mere margin of 10 points over KoeneUSA teammate Payton Durrant. Nicholas has his eye firmly set on that number one spot and he knows it’s going to be a battle till the last lap.

“I am really excited about this weekend’s race,” said Nicholas. “It is great to get back to competition again. This is a new track so it will take a couple of laps to get used to. I adapt well to new racetracks and I like the challenge. I feel good going into this weekend and this is a tough field, some of the best drivers in the world will be here. I am always looking for the win but we also have to look at the big picture for good solid finishes leading up to the main event. The goal is to win this whole thing.”

With this being Michael’s first year in the Junior class, his progression has been fantastic. Going into this weekend’s race Michael is one of the top performing rookies and sits top-10 in points standing. Michael has over come some bad luck this year and hopes Las Vegas will bring some winning luck. He is very hungry for his first win this season and what bigger town and better place to get it than in the Las Vegas.

“I am looking forward to racing at the Rio this weekend,” said Michael. “I have raced here before with other series but this is a new track. I like new tracks and the challenge of learning them. My main goal for this weekend is to win and I feel really confident that I can do that. Junior has been a big step up for me. I have felt more and more confident with each race and we’ve had some really good results. The competition here is very tough and we are going to do all we can to not just get podium finishes, but push for the win. What better and bigger places to try to get my first win in Junior than in this weekend’s US Open series race here in Las Vegas.”

d’Orlando Racing Team would like to remind you that along with the races set for this weekend, they have been working with Karting Community United at preparing some fun activities for everyone during the Halloween weekend event. We are very proud to support this event & KCU. Festivities will kick off on Wednesday, October 28 with a Welcome and Thank You Party in the Presidential Suite at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino from 8-11pm. On Thursday, after on-track events are concluded, d’Orlando Racing and KCU will help host a Halloween prize-draw for the Micro & Mini Max participants and a costume contest before Trick-or-Treating commences from tent-to-tent throughout the paddock.
