The school year is over and Michael d'Orlando is once again shifting his focus back to the race track. Looking to build on the momentum from the official series test a couple weeks ago at Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI, the 16-year-old rookie returns to the famed circuit this weekend for rounds six and seven of the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda.

It's been a busy few weeks since d'Orlando's last race at the Indianapolis Grand Prix in May. He has worked tirelessly in the classroom preparing for final exams, in addition to maintaining a physical training regiment before school, with the help of his sponsors at UFC Gyms in Mamaroneck and White Plains, NY. Just before the final exams began, d'Orlando flew to Wisconsin for two days to take part in the official series test at Road America where he showed great progress and top-10 results, despite the limited track time from the first day's mechanical issues. Upon return to NY after the series' test, d'Orlando dove straight into final exams to complete his Sophomore year at Iona Preparatory School. And now, with merely a day break, he is back at Road America.

“I’m really excited to be back with Team BENIK for rounds six and seven of the Mazda Road to Indy at Road America,” expressed d’Orlando. “I have been home studying for finals and now that school is finished I can now fully focus on racing. The [series] test went really well and I’m looking forward to this next USF2000 weekend.”

This weekend's event consists of just one practice session on Friday morning before the two qualifying sessions on Friday afternoon. Head-to-head racing action will commence on Saturday for race one and then again on Sunday morning for race two, just prior to round ten of the Verizon IndyCar Series. d'Orlando Enterprises would like to extend their ongoing appreciation for the support and sponsors at UFC Gym in Mamaroneck, NY and White Plains, NY locations, Iona Preparatory School, DB Collaborative, Celtic General Contractors and Focused Project Management. And a special Thanks to the leadership and support of the entire team at Team Benik.
