DO YOU KNOW WHAT WE DID THIS SUMMER?

No, this isn't another sequel to the infamous 1997 slasher film but we believe this summer was equally as memorable! So let's take a peak into what two of North America's top young motorsports athletes did this summer and their journey to get back in the seat in pursuit of IndyCar dreams!

"Skipping" Down Sam Posey Straight -
Back in February, our followers may remember our trip to a not-so-little world's greatest collector car auction known as Barret Jackson, in Scottsdale, Arizona. While Michael & Nicholas d'Orlando took in all the action at this phenomal event, they made an impression with the legendary Skip Barber Racing School, a school responsible for the startup careers of numerous drivers in NASCAR, IndyCar, SCCA, World Challenge and IMSA series including Marco Andretti, Juan Pablo Montoya, Danica Patrick and Josef Newgarden. When the d'Orlando duo took a couple of the top times in the Skip Barber Simulator Challenge in Scottsdale, it was a no-brainer for the two entities to join forces this summer. The d'Orlando brothers were often found trackside all summer long with Skip Barber Racing School, and/or their Hagerty Driving Academy programs, at Lime Rock Race Park in Lakeville, CT. There's nothing like doing some laps in the school's Ford Mustang GT's down the famed Sam Posey Straight at the very home of the school's founder himself, Skip Barber.

Class Act In NYC -
If you follow the d'Orlando Racing's Instagram account, then you'll know exactly what this means. When the dynamic d'Orlando duo are not running the chicanes with Skip Barber, they were often found at the helm of the state-of-the-art racing simulators at the prestigious Classic Car Club of Manhattan in New York City. Whether it was extending their knowledge and expertise to the honored club guests trying for a new lap record, or working on their own skills at the various race tracks they expect to be racing in real cars over their lifetime, Michael & Nicholas are a well-known face at this prestigious private club. These boys are taking every opportunity they can get to stay fresh on a race track when the next opportunity to get back in the car arises.

Put a Little Lime in Race Park -
Following up on the amazing experience last year, both d'Orlando boys were honored to be a part of the Lime Rock Race Park event scene in the stunning area of Lakeville, CT. Nothing gets your motor running like taking in all the action at the IMSA series race weekend, or the time-honored tradition of the Historic Festival. Michael and Nicholas could be found throughout the venue for these special weekend-long events as they supported the Lime Rock Race Park events staff to host thousands of race fans!

All Work and No Play? -
Now don't get me wrong. It's clearly evident that Michael & Nicholas are completely obsessed with their sport and doing whatever they can to be around fast cars and motorsports. So if you're wondering if they actually got to enjoy any of their summer just being a teenager....don't worry. They used their 'free' time for relaxing things such as Forza 4 on Xbox and Playstation, traveling to Watkins Glen to see old friends in race cars and spending time working on their own car that they just acquired since Michael obtained his drivers' license in March. And now, Nicholas has his drivers' permit!! Additionally, they spent some time traveling to various east coast colleges doing some research on potential institutions for 2020, of which has been determined that a Formula SAE program will be a requirement. And as you may know from our previous news, Michael got back to "work" in a race car as part of the F4 United States Championship Series. So in short, do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life.

Grand Finale -
Because there's never enough racing in their life, Michael and Nicholas d'Orlando hopped on board with their region's top indoor gokarting facility to be a part of the action and extend their knowledge and passion to the general public. The facility of Grand Prix New York in Mt Kisco, NY is home to one the best indoor kart tracks on the east coast. Although GPNY is currently under a renovation for a move to electric karts, on any given weekend, even through the school year, the d'Orlando brothers can be found leading the charge here.

So there you have it. A busy summer for these athletes and they're always keeping their eyes on their career in motorsports. Unlike the movie, everyone survived unscathed and the fun factor was off the charts! Thank you to everyone at Skip Barber Racing School, Classic Car Club - Manhattan, Lime Rock Race Park and Grand Prix New York for all your ongoing and continued support.
