There are certain opportunities that come and go in a professional athlete's career, and some opportunities are just no-brainer decisions. For Michael d'Orlando, getting the nod from Cape Motorsports was a no-brainer. And now the partnership is preparing to take on the field in 2020.

d'Orlando is returning to the Road to Indy driver development program, in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship series, after a limited four event season in 2018, with a top-6 result, and another limited four event season in 2019 in the F4 United States Championship series, resulting in a podium appearance at the famed Circuit of the Americas event. Although his experience was limited each year, what he showed in potential and commitment to his craft caught the attention of the Cape Brothers.

"We are really excited to have Michael as one of our drivers for the 2020 campaign, it has been a long time coming since we first contacted the d'Orlando's over two years ago," enthused Nicholas and Dominic Cape. "Michael has exactly what we look for in one of our drivers; a good karting background, which is essential, he has the pace we look for and will only strengthen our line-up. Michael has done really well in testing and works really well in our environment."

Cape Motorsports has 13 championship titles to their credit, countless race wins and rookie-of-the-year titles, and are currently on a nine-year consecutive driver's championship winning streak, and have won seven of the last nine team championships. The team boasts development of talented drivers from USF2000 all the way to the professional IndyCar series, including previous USF2000 series champions Oliver Askew (IndyCar) and Kyle Kirkwood (Indy Lights and Formula E), and former IndyCar driver, JR Hildebrand.

"I've been itching to get back in the seat again as soon as possible and I'm so excited to get this year started with Cape Motorsports," offered d'Orlando. "Dominic and Nicholas (Cape) have been great with helping me prepare for the season and I'm looking forward to getting back in the USF car. I can't what to see what this year brings and I'm sure it will be a good one."
