Michael and Nicholas d'Orlando join the First Gear program rounding out the roster of four individually chosen drivers by Rising Star Racing founder, Art Wilmes.
“I have always wanted to work with younger drivers making the move from karting to cars,” says Wilmes. “I don’t know where this initiative will lead us, but I am keen to learn whether we can create a viable business model for First Gear. I have followed Michael & Nicholas' careers for quite some time, and had the opportunity to witness Michael's recent success in the Road to Indy last year, Their talent, determination and commitment are a perfect fit for this initiative. ”
"We [Nicholas & I] feel very blessed to be able to work with Art." said Michael d'Orlando, driver for d'Orlando Enterprises LLC. "We all work really well together and we are very excited to be part of the First Gear program. It's an honor to be chosen by him personally."
Wilmes has over three decades of experience as an actuary, in addition to his extensive experience in motorsports. Combined with the 12-years experience and success of d'Orlando Enterprises in the development levels of motorsports, it's a partnership that both parties are eager to develop. "We understand the importance of relationships both on and off the race track, " explains Sherri d'Orlando, co-Founder of d'Orlando Enterprises LLC. "Art has a wealth of knowledge and our relationship developed so easily. We feel that this is a great partnership that will continue to grow for both of us."
